The top cause of fires in the home is cooking equipment, accounting for an estimated 147,400 or 40 percent of residential fires each year between 2008 and 2010. Cooking was also associated with the largest percentage of fire-related injuries, an estimated average 27.4 percent or 3,450, in the home.
Home heating and cooling equipment, including portable space heaters, was a top cause of fire deaths, accounting for about nine percent or 210 deaths on average, in homes each year between 2008 and 2010.
Portable heaters were associated with 100 of those deaths each year."Six people die every day in home fires," said CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum. "The early warning provided by smoke alarms can make a big difference. Consumers who have working smoke alarms in their homes die in fires at about half the rate of those who do not have alarms."

Came across this the other day and it is just another example of why it is so important to have a home inspections. This couple had a structural engineer to inspect the house! Structural engineers are simply that, not home inspectors!

Google Business Listing is GONE!
It has been over 2 1/2 months since I saw the change with Google on our local listing. It started out with some missing reviews,then an old phone number showing and after that the listing now is no longer on. I have repeatedly contacted google by email but it appears that MANY business are having the same issue.
To all our clients and realtors we are still found on the internet but not in the "Google Local Business Listings". They have "Google has said that the issue is on their end and hopefully it will be corrected soon.

Does the Price determine who your Inspector will be?
I realize that so many people are under the crunch of finances but it should NEVER determine who will be your Home Inspector.
First, realize that the difference in price is probably not that great and are you really willing to take a chance with someone with less experience, less professionalism, less knowledge over a few dollars?
Second, do your homework! Check out the reviews on the internet and see what other people say about the Home Inspector your thinking of using.
Third, realize that just because a realtor recommends and particular company does NOT always mean that their the best service available.
